I have been there. I dieted since the age of 14. I thought the only way to be slim is to diet. I would do a cleansing diet, lose 10 lbs. and then gain 12. Also, like most women, I tried all kinds of fasting, pills, slimming teas, fat-burning exercise …. Lose weight and gain weight.

And the more I dieted, the less time I could stay on a diet. I blamed myself for being weak, not organized enough.
At the end of my battle with food, my routine would look like this: I would have a healthy breakfast, a salad for lunch, and sometimes I had even a healthy dinner. But once it was finally my time trying to relax, I would get on the couch, turn on TV and binge eat.

I didn’t honestly care about tomorrow. I had this tremendous craving for the food and the relief it gave me. I binged on chocolate bars, potato chips, ice cream until I couldn’t eat anymore. And I fell asleep angry and frustrated with myself and committed to doing better tomorrow, but when the night time came I binged in front of TV again.
It was horrible, I felt trapped in this cycle. I felt like I lost control over my food cravings, I was obsessed with food, it got me under control. I couldn’t control what I ate. It was terrifying. I looked at obese people fearing that I am soon going to be one of them.
I knew I needed a real solution. Staying overweight was not an option. Being unhealthy and shortening my lifespan was not an option. Constantly obsessing about my weight was not an option. I was all in.
So I began to educate myself on emotional eating, neuroscience, holistic nutrition and how it affects different body types, learning genetics and what would actually work for me (and why the things I’d tried in the past didn’t work out).
And I did it: I finally lost the weight for good and felt confident in my body.
This was my turning point.
